Coroner Releases Identity of Victim

Mount Pleasant, SC (WCIV) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 17 Saturday evening as 19-year-old Brandon Newsome of Mount Pleasant.

Crash Details

According to the coroner's office, Newsome was operating a motorcycle when he collided with a car. The crash occurred around 5:57 p.m. on Highway 17 near the Isle of Palms Connector.

Mount Pleasant Police and emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported Newsome to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:42 p.m. on Sunday.

The car driver involved in the crash was not injured.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. No further details are available at this time.
