Controversy from the First Lap

The FIA Formula 1's governing body has announced that it will conduct an analysis and clarification exercise following controversy on the first lap of the race. Both title contenders, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, were involved in incidents that raised questions about the interpretation of the rules and the application of penalties.

Verstappen and Hamilton Clash

Bottas and Russell Incident

Later on the first lap, Valtteri Bottas and George Russell collided at Turn 9. Bottas attempted to overtake Russell on the inside, but Russell closed the door and the two cars collided. Bottas was forced off the track and Russell continued, but the stewards deemed that Russell was at fault and handed him a five-second penalty.

FIA Analysis and Clarification

The FIA has announced that it will conduct an analysis and clarification exercise to review the incidents that occurred on the first lap of the race. The governing body will consult with the teams and drivers involved to gain a better understanding of the events and to determine if any changes to the rules or guidelines are necessary.
